Level 3 DC Fast Chargers
DC fast chargers, also known as Level 3 or L3 chargers, charge with a direct current power supply from 200 to 920 V DC. L3 chargers require specialized infrastructure to handle the high voltage safely. Inertial Electric will perform any infrastructure upgrades necessary to handle high voltage DC charging. DC chargers can charge EVs in as little as 30 minutes or less and are typically reserved for public access areas and large commercial EVs.
L3 EVSE Connector Types
Different kinds of EVs also have distinct charge ports. This means that the shape of the plug you connect to your EV to recharge it varies as well. There are three classes of plugs, also referred to as connectors: CCS (which stands for the combined charging system), CHAdeMO, and Tesla. In the U.S., the plug shape varies by make for Level 3 charging only.
